Yes! You can consider mounting the roller shade on the outside of your window, which will extend beyond the sides of the window opening. Another option is to consider adding a light block to your shade. It’s really a matter of preference. Smaller 2” slats are ideal for smaller windows. Generally, the smaller the slat, the more slats per window so when the blind is open, your outside view won’t seem as open due to the number of slats. For a more open-view option, consider 2/5” slats.

This is a great feature of honeycomb shades. It provides the flexibility to lower the shade from the top or raise the shade from the bottom. Day and night shades are like two shades in one and allow you to choose two fabrics for the most versatility. A nice light filtering shade during the day will allow light into your room combined with a room darkening shade for maximum privacy and light protection when needed. Another popular combination is using a sheer honeycomb to make the most of your view while providing protection from UV light with a light filtering fabric when you need a little extra coverage.
One of the features of honeycomb shades is the versatility of several cell sizes. Generally, the smaller cells look great in smaller widows or narrow windows. A smaller sized cell can also offer greater energy-saving efficiency. A larger window should be covered with a larger cell shade. With the larger pleats it can ensure your window covering is proportionate to your window size and won’t look too “busy” with excessive numbers of cells and pleats.
There are several factors that can help decide between single cell honeycomb shades and double cell honeycomb shades. Single cell shades have one layer of cells while double cell shades have two rows of interconnected cells. As a result, single cell shades provide less insulation that double cell shades. Another important distinction is that double cell shades generally come in larger cell sizes, so for a smaller window or a window that is not very deep, the larger cell size may not be the best option.
Cellular or honeycomb shades have a unique, pleated, accordion-style fabric that stylishly and effectively provides light and temperature control. Honeycomb shades are easy to maintain, but they can also trap dust and debris on the fabric folds. Most honeycomb shades only require light, regular dusting. You may choose to use a vacuum with an upholstery attachment to lightly remove dust or debris. If a honeycomb shade becomes stained, carefully spot treat with warm water and a mild detergent. It’s always best to check manufacturer recommendations or test in an inconspicuous location on your shade first.
